
The Black Business Month has arrived. It’s time to celebrate local entrepreneurs.
Black Business Month is celebrated each August to recognize and recognize Black-owned businesses and their contributions to the economy. According to National Today, about 10% of all businesses in America are owned by Black people. Major industries run by black-owned businesses include healthcare, social work, repair and maintenance, beauty salons, and restaurants.
So how did this annual celebration get started?

History of Black Business Month
Entrepreneur Frederick E. Jordan and eAccess Corp. president John William Templeton founded Black Business Month in 2004. Their goal was to empower black business owners across the country while also shedding light on the unique challenges many of them face.
This annual month-long event provides consumers and business owners with an opportunity to support black businesses. It also provides a platform for businesses to grow and build intergenerational wealth.
